Charles Mingus has recorded his first leader works before this record.
I like to listen to the first recording of a great master of jazz.
Why he was named ’Baron’ ?
I quote a passage from ’JazzWax June 03,2010’.
“The name was bestowed on him by War Perkins, a popular L.A. promoter and producer who owned a record store on Central Avenue. Perkins’ aim with the name was to provide Mingus with a touch of royalty, in the spirit of Count Basie and Duke Ellington. “
