Isao Tomita has died from a chronic heart ailment.

He died May 5 at a hospital in Tokyo. He was 84.

He was frequently nominated for Grammy Awards.

His famous works were “Pictures at an Exhibition,” “The Firebird,” “The Planets” and other classic works into modern electronic versions using synthesizers.

He also worked on scores for TV programs and films.
