Last week I heard Bill Evans’ new release record.

”Bill Evans Some Other Time: The Lost Session From the Black Forest”

”RECORDED BY HANS GEORG BRUNNER-SCHWER AND JOACHIM-ERNST BERENDT AT MPS STUDIOS, VILLINGEN, GERMANY IN THE BLACK FOREST”

This Week I want to post about “MPS” that this session been recorded.

MPS Records was the first German jazz record label founded in 1968.

The founder was Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer.

He wanted to produce jazz records of chosen artists in the highest possible sound quality.

MPS  stands for “Musik Produktion Schwarzwald” (Music Production Black Forest).

Oscar Peterson and others recorded several LPs in a small town in the Black Forest.

Jazz musicians all over the world nicknamed the MPS label “Most Perfect Sound”.
