Gene Norman produced Charlie Ventura’s “Bop for the People” concert in Pasadena, Calif., in May 1949.
This work was one of the most significant and electrifying bop band performances of the late 1940s.
He continued to put on big concerts, and produced a series of live albums and studio recordings based around his promotions.
Today I want to write a little about Charlie Ventura and Jackie Cain and Roy Kral.
When Gene Krupa reformed his band in June 1944 Krupa recruited Charlie Ventura.
In 1948 Charlie Ventura organised the small band.
His band was associated with “Bop For The People.”Jackie Cain and Roy Kral were singing with Charlie Ventura band in 1948 and 1949.
The Pasadena Concert actually was their last concert with the band.
Jackie Cain and Roy Kral left from Charlie Ventura’s band.
The Ventura band was pretty popular in the 1950s.
Tomorrow I will post about their concert live recordings.
Here is Gene Krupa and his Orchestra with Charlie Ventura in 1947.
He played tenor sax in the white suspenders.
Here is Charlie Ventura band play “Lullaby in Rhythm” live concert in Pasadena.
