Recently, I watched “Talmage Farlow” by website.

“Talmage Farlow” was produced by Lorenzo DeStefano as a documentary on jazz guitarist Tal Farlow in 1981.

This film is featuring Tal’s footages and interviews of Lenny Breau, George Benson, Tommy Flanagan, Red Mitchell, Red Norvo, and Jimmy Lyon.

Last year I learned an interesting fact about this film.

”Initially, we considered Emily Remler here ,but she wasn’t available,and then Tal suggested Lenny Breau.”

年初で時間がありましたので、 ネットで公開されているTal Farlowのドキュメンタリー映画を観ました。

「Talmage Farlow」は映像作家Lorenzo DeStefanoによって1980年に制作されました。

この作品の中ではGeorge Benson、Red Norvo、Jimmy Lyonがインタビューゲストとして登場しています。

又、Lenny Breauとのクラブでの共演、Tommy Flanagan並びにRed Mitchellとのコンサートの模様が記録されています。

昨年購入した書籍(上記写真)からこの作品について興味深い事実を知りました。

「当初、Tal FarlowはEmily Remlerと共演したかったそうです。しかし、彼女とは共演できずLenny Breauを指名したそうです。」

余談ですが、40年以上前にジャズ喫茶オアシス(大阪千里丘)での例会で、毎週「樽春雄」さんがギター関連のレコード解説をされていました。個人的には樽さん(小林氏)にこの映像を解説して頂きたいと思っています。

次回はLenny Breauとの共演盤「Chance Meeting」を全曲ご紹介します。

Snowfall

I have a song that I’d like to listen to at the end of the year.

I will introduce my favorite “Snowfall” and “A Fountain In Havana”.

年末になると思い出すことがあります。

9年前の年末に東京から札幌に転勤で引っ越しをしました。

そして5年前の年末に東京に戻りました。

北海道での引っ越しでは雪がいつも降っていました。

雪の怖さも何度か経験しましたが、自宅の窓から見る雪の風景は忘れられません。

そんな訳で私のお気に入りの「Snowfall」をブログに添付しました。

又、最後にこの曲の原曲となったと思われます「A Fountain In Havana」もご紹介します。
