タイリー・グレンというトロンボーン奏者を知ったのは、今は無き東芝EMIがブルーノートクラブ会員限定で出したルーレット盤の復刻紙ジャケCD「Let’s Have A Ball」でした。トミー・フラナガンらと組んだこの盤から本業トロンボーンでの演奏。

トミー・ドーシーは(1904年11月19日~1956年11月26日)は「Sentimental Gentleman」と呼ばれ、史上最も美しい音色のトロンボーンを吹くといわれていました。自身の楽団の時にはソロはバンドメンに任せ、ひたすらテーマをストレートに演奏するというスタイルで一時代を築き上げました。メンバーにはBud Freeman(ts), Bunny Berigan(tp),Ziggy Elman(tp), Buddy DeFranco(cl),Dave Tough(ds), Buddy Rich(ds)などが在団しました。

Cliff Edwards(クリフ・エドワーズ)はウクレレ奏者兼歌手としてデビューし、1929年に”Singin ‘in the Rain”をヒットさせ後年「ピノキオ」の挿入歌『星に願いを』で歴史に残る歌手となっています。

阪急百貨店SPレコードコンサート(6月25日)

昨日は阪急百貨店で開催されていたSPレコードコンサートの最終日に行ってきました。

解説 西口 正博氏(京都HOT STEP代表)

会場にはM氏(神戸ジャズサロン主宰者)とF川氏(大阪ジャズ同好会で新譜紹介担当)が来られていました。F川氏からは「竹針カッター」についても教えて頂きました。

当日ご紹介された7曲を記載しました。又、ミルドレッド・ベイリーとビリー・ホリデイの歌唱をお楽しみ下さい。
